Celebrate Your Sweetie in Pure LudingtonĀ

February is a Month of Specials

Valentine’s Day in this lakeshore town offers a number of ways you can uniquely celebrate the romance-filled holiday with your sweetie. Here, you will find outdoor recreation and activities to enjoy winter, with cozy rooms where you can rest after a fun-filled day.

Here are the Top 7 ways to celebrate in Pure Ludington:

1. Art for Two

Reserve studio time for a private art class and create a masterpiece with your special someone at Art by Mary Case-Studio & Gallery. The staff will set a lovely, candle-lit table for two in the gallery among beautiful, original art pieces. After you enjoy a private meal (you bring your own takeout or pack a picnic), you may create a variety of art projects from painting to pottery. Cost of this special Valentine's date is $75 per couple, which includes all art supplies to make as many projects as you can create in two hours.

You might also consider a Workshop in a Box from the Ludington Area Center for the Arts for an at-home project. Reserve your kit ahead of time for pick-up.

2. Opt Outside

Winter is the perfect time to explore Ludington’s amazing parks while they are blanketed with snow! Hike or bike the trails at Cartier Park, Ludington School Forest or Ludington State Park. They are also great for snowshoeing. Waterfront Park is home to a poly-rink for ice skating with a view, and skates are available for checkout at the Ludington Library

3. Valentine’s Show at the Arts Center

The Ludington Area Center for the Arts is hosting its first virtual dinner theater on Valentine's Day weekend. They provide the theater; let your favorite local restaurant provide the dinner! Tickets are now on sale for 10 Ways to Survive Life in a Quarantine, written by Don Zolidis. This one-act comedy is $20 ticket price (per device), so snuggle up with your partner, roommate or pet and enjoy a one-of-a-kind show.

4. Romantic Dinner

Ever had dinner inside a heated igloo? It’s one of the novel ways to dine out in Ludington this winter! Just order your food and beverages by phone, and the staff at Ludington Bay Brewing Co. will bring your meal to the igloo door. Sister establishments, Sportsman's Restaurant and Barley & Rye, have outdoor seating in greenhouses, available by reservation. The Blu Moon Bistro also has two outdoor igloos, available to reserve for up to 1.5 hours.

Additionally, outdoor deck dining (with patio heaters) is available at Jamesport Brewing Company on a first come, first served basis. The last seating each evening will be 7 p.m. Of course, restaurants are also offering takeout, if you choose.

Indoor dining reopened February 1, so Ludington restaurants are ready to welcome you!

 5. Chocolate Walk

What says Valentine’s Day more than chocolate? On February 13, follow a map to participating Downtown Ludington businesses to grab a bite of something sweet. Explore, look for hearts and shop along the way.

Start with lunch or finish with dinner; this is a self-guided walk which may be completed in any order. It’s free, but be sure to register to receive a map.

Also, Kilwin’s of Ludington has some amazing sweets available for pre-order that are sure to make your sweetheart feel special. Choose from chocolate-covered strawberries, sea salt caramel apples, fudge and more. Pickup at the store is February 13.

 6. Valentine’s Packages for Overnight Stays

If you’re looking for a getaway with great quiet-season rates, now is the time to book. Ludington hotels and bed & breakfasts have deals that will fit your budget with special luxuries for the holiday. Check out the romance packages at Cartier Mansion, Comfort Inn, Lamplighter Bed & Breakfast, and Ludington House Bed & Breakfast. Some include champagne, chocolates, flowers & more! 7. Chocolate & Candles Event

Celebrate the cozy season as you create your own artisan soy candle while sampling chocolates and sipping homemade hot cocoa at the Lamplighter Bed & Breakfast. While you wait for your candle to cure, shop the House & Harbor collection from the comfort of the inn.  Relax by the fireplace while you try handmade candy, fresh-baked sweets, and cocoa! In addition to the treats at the event, guests will take home a dozen chocolates, as well as a handcrafted, Lamplighter B&B coffee mug. This February 20 event is one of a kind, so get your reservation in early! Lamplighter also offers private fireside dinners, expertly prepared by a private chef.
