Looking for a place to kick up your heels and stay warm on a wintry night? Try one of Pure Ludington’s music hot spots - where local- and Michigan-based bands keep listeners cozy with their melodies -- and friends gathered together make your evenings memorable.
The Mitten Bar is a favorite place to meet for eclectic artists. Names like Joshua Davis, All American Funk Parade, Luke Winslow-King, Crane Wives and Benjaman James have come to Ludington to play here. The small atmosphere of the pub lends to its close-knit feel, and many patrons have become members of the exclusive Mug Club. Don’t miss the dozen rotating craft beers the Mitten has on tap, or order your favorite in a bottle.
Welcoming a number of local artists to play in its tap room, Ludington Bay Brewing Co. is a gathering spot for music on weekends. Warm up by the fireplace and grab your favorite from among 24 brews on draft - even take a peek at the brewing facility inside. Come hungry, and try the brewery’s homemade mac and cheese or crab rangoon pizza. The brewery also offers a Mug Club for lasting deals.
The Performing Arts Series at West Shore Community College hosts a variety of national and international acts throughout the year, so be sure to check out who’s going to be on stage next! Coming in February will be the Broadway and Hollywood sci-fi musical, Little Shop of Horrors, at the Center Stage Theater. Look here for ticket purchases.
If you dabble in music yourself, you’ll want to bring your instrument to the Ludington Area Center for the Arts for the Acoustic Jam Sessions on Wednesdays. The gallery space is open to all interested musicians from 6-8:30 p.m. each week. Or you may want to attend an Open Mic Night on Thursdays. Sign-up for the event starts at 6:30 p.m., with performances from 7-9 p.m. on the first and third Fridays of the month. LACA occasionally holds concerts from notable singers and songwriters, so look for the lineup here.
Jamesport Brewing Co. is a spot you might catch a local acoustic set or some “gypsy jazz.” The brewery has a full menu (try the Paesano cheese bread or fish fry) and up to 14 craft beers on tap, so check out the weekend musical acts here.
Lastly, if you’re looking for a farm-to-table burger, a beer and live music, head to Ludington Pub. Weekends are a popular time for musical performances - and local acoustics share their artistry in a relaxed atmosphere. Take a load off, enjoy some chili-cheese fries and warm up to the music venues Ludington has to offer!
