Pure Ludington is a fantastic destination for a memorable weekend stay or just a day trip. We have compiled five spectacular locations we think you should not miss this fall.
Ludington State Park
If you are looking for recreation or just beautiful scenery, the Ludington State Park provides both. Hike, bike or paddle at 5,300 acres of protected land. Views of Lake Michigan, sand dunes, lush forests, an inland lake, river and lighthouse cannot be matched.
Port of Ludington Maritime Museum
Ludington’s maritime museum brings history to life with interactive exhibits and storytelling. (Open 10-5 Friday and Saturday through 10/17) A special event on November 11 will re-open the musuem and highlight a significant event 80 years ago, when one of the worst storms on Lake Michigan drove the City of Flint 32 ashore in blizzard conditions.
A Ludington Brewery
This shoreline town boasts two downtown microbreweries with tasting rooms, where you can sample a myriad of locally made beer. Dine in a casual atmosphere or take food to go from Jamesport Brewing Company or Ludington Bay Brewing Co. -- even grab your favorite brew in cans to take home.
Waterfront Park
Learn a bit of local history by visiting nine stunning statues at Waterfront Park. You won’t be disappointed by the views at this stop, adjacent to the harbor and marinas. Don’t forget to snap photos!
The Market
Need some fresh produce or a pumpkin to carve? Check out one of Ludington’s newer businesses, The Market. Here you’ll find the wares of local farmers, including flowers, apples, squash, pumpkins and everything you need for your deer plot. The Market also features fun, farmhouse-chic accessories for decorating your home.
