Take in the Sights, Experience the Culture

Ludington’s historic tradition makes our city so much more than just another beach town. Our coastline is home to two celebrated lighthouses that are a must-see for anyone visiting the area. To the north, the Big Point Sable light, dating back to 1867, looks out on the waters of the Ludington State Park while the North Breakwater Light, established in 1871, surveys the waterfront at the Stearns Park Beach. Both lights are open to public tours during the summer months.

Moving away from the waterfront, feel free to stroll the red-brick sidewalks that line the heart of downtown Ludington as you admire the local Victorian architecture or browse the storefronts of our many local merchants and restaurants. Take special care to note the numerous murals around town which provide visitors a glimpse into the diverse history of the Ludington area.

Finally, drop by White Pine Village and see Michigan’s history come alive. This oversized time capsule gives visitors insight into the lives of the area’s mid-19^th century inhabitants as well as the industries that Michigan is famous for. The Great Outdoors

Take a short drive north along scenic M-116 and discover the natural beauty that the 5,300 acre Ludington State Park has to offer. Situated between Lake Michigan and Hamlin Lake, this park is the outdoorsman’s paradise.

Escape into the wilderness or trek out to the Big Point Sable Lighthouse on one of eight different hiking trails winding through pristine Northern Michigan forests, marshlands, and sand dunes.
