A Summer vacation in Ludington always includes the lakeshore, but how many of us venture past the buoys of the swim area to really take in all of the fun Lake Michigan offers? 1. Paddle It - Ludington and Mason County is home to 4 in-land lakes and over 2,000 miles of rivers and streams, but Lake Michigan offers some of the most adventurous paddling opportunities. A favorite excursion for kayakers is the Sable Points Water Trail between Ludington and Silver Lake. The Sable Points Water Trail is an extension of the Ludington State Park Canoe Trail in Mason County to allow paddlers to reach Silver Lake State Park in Oceana County – a distance of 35 miles! If you don't have your own kayaks, there are many outfitters in the area that would be glad to help you find a kayak for your adventure! SUP offers something that kayaking or canoeing can’t—the perspective gained from standing on the water instead of sitting in a watercraft. The view from above allows SUP’ers to see sandy bottoms rippled by waves, and if they are lucky catch a glimpse of fish swimming nearby. The North Beach concession stand at Stearns Park Beach is now offering SUP board rentals for visitors looking to try the sport if you do not have your own.

With 28 miles of sugar-sand shoreline along Lake Michigan, there are many beaches to fit your needs. Stearns Park beach is a favorite for its close proximity to downtown dining and shopping, mini-golf, the Skate Plaza, concessions and more. It's the perfect spot for the whole family!

The best part about fishing on a charter boat is that the captain has the best tips as to where the fish are biting. Charter fishing trips are fun group or family activity and there is nothing better than watching the sunrise from a boat on Lake Michigan.
